Bicycle Touring Around The World

Welcome to Cycling Everywhere, my personal blog documenting an open-ended, two-wheeled adventure that kicks off with a ride from Athens to Nordkapp. Bonus quest: cycle in every country on Earth. Somehow.

About Cycling Everywhere

Love bike touring and adventure travel? Miss the good old days of personal travel blogs?

Well, this is my attempt to bring them back.

My name is Dave, and starting in June 2025, I’ll be pedaling my way from Athens to Nordkapp—and beyond—as part of an open-ended, around-the-world cycling journey. Along the way, I’ll be sharing stories, photos, maps, and whatever else comes up, right here at Cycling Everywhere.

My goal is to post day-by-day entries that reflect the real experience: the highs, the lows, the tailwinds, the headwinds—no filters, no fluff.

In an age where the internet has become enshittified with AI spam, fake photos, and bizarre agendas, I’m keeping it simple. Just the story of one guy on a bicycle, keeping it real.

Follow My Journey

This blog is a rough-and-ready travel diary—expect typos, half-baked ideas, and unpolished thoughts. What you read is what came out on the day.

I won’t always have online access, so updates might come in batches when I find Wi-Fi. Catch-up days will be a thing. If you’re following along, check back every few days or subscribe to my weekly newsletter for the latest posts.

Prefer social media? For your daily dose of Dave, you’ll find me posting shorter updates, photos, and videos from the bicycle tour on:

(Daily dose of Dave? Yeah, still not sure about that name. But we’ll roll with it.)

Oh—and go wild: bookmark the blog while you’re at it!

RTW Ride & the Big Side Quest

This blog documents my ongoing mission to cycle around the world—with a slightly mad side quest: ride a bicycle in every country on the planet.

Reality check: I have no idea if it’s even possible.

I don’t even have a solid plan.

Previous trips, documented on another blog, have seen me pedal a bicycle from Alaska to Argentina and England to South Africa. So, I’ve already clocked up a few countries!

The question is, as this is a new blog, should I count those, or reset the country counter to zero? Hmm.

What I do know is that this particular bicycle tour starts in June 2025, and that reaching Nord Kapp by bicycle from Athens is somewhere between 5000 and 6000kms of cycling.

Would I carry on after that? Who knows! Maybe I’ll have had enough at that point, and want a rest!

If I did carry on cycling, here’s some of the obstacles I might face:

  • Some countries may be off-limits due to politics, logistics, or plain common sense.
  • Plotting the route will be chaotic.
  • Getting to remote Pacific island nations with a bike? Good luck.
  • And I’ve no clue how long this will take.
  • Also, how many countries are there again? I should probably make a list… (Actually, I did—check the main menu.)

Still, where there’s a will, there’s a way.

I’ll aim to keep the blog updated as close to real-time as I can, share daily snapshots on social, and upload longer bike touring videos to YouTube whenever possible.

Thanks for stopping by—I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I hope I do 🙂
